André-Michel
Essoungou

Journalist, author and trainer. Field reporting, international experience and a conviction: the craft is passed on through practice.

The field as a classroom.

André-Michel Essoungou worked as a foreign correspondent, including for the BBC and Radio France Internationale. Based in Canada, the United States and several African countries, he covered political and international affairs.

He later worked at the United Nations in communication and political affairs. His writing and training connect that experience with the changing media landscape.

A book ends.
A craft keeps evolving.

Journalisme Africain extends the French-language manual La Pratique du métier de journaliste en 52 leçons. The site offers accessible lesson guides, exercises, an opportunities watchlist, training, a podcast and a quarterly review.

It serves students, early-career and experienced journalists, schools and newsrooms across Africa. French and English open two doors into the same conversation: reporting accurately, independently and with care for audiences.
